35. Everybody to the left of the neocons
must have found some point in our long political history where the Left and/or Progressive factions have actually benefitted BY WINNING AN ELECTION by destroying any fabric of unity to SECURE THE NOMINATON. We are not the Right...they chew each other up in primary open season, but get in formation lock-step behind their boy in the General. The Left has never done that...our scars don't seem to heal, not quickly anyway.
Regardless of our candidates of choice, we need to engage in dialogues of ideas and plans for the future of our country and the world we will deal with after 2009. To not elevate the discussion, to not address the national problems, to not gather strength to make the changes that we must make...to participate in the politics of old, as effective as they may be TO GET YOUR ASS ELECTED ignores the cold, hard fact that this world is not the world of 500, 200, 100, 10 years ago. While the human race has maybe not evolved too much in a long span, the nature of our choices has. We don't have to "all get along"...but let's try to at least get our train headed in the right direction. Getting rid of the neocon crime syndicate is not the end-all. We need change, and we need it NOW.
