35. Barack Obama has admitted his past drug use and given us his version of it.

Whether it is a full one or protective cover, I have no way of knowing, nor do you. Whatever the case, it might, though, explain his his behavior last night, which was shockingly immature.

My mentioning his past drug experimentation hardly drags him down since he has written about it himself. As you point out he doesn't excuse it, or deny it, minimize it to our knowledge, or try and hide it. Therefore there is no reason it can't be talked about.

I hope his past behavior was not as destructive as George W. Bush's, for Dubya is undoubtedly continuing to manifest problems associated with his abuse. But Obama, himself, has made his own drug use a matter of public record, so it is certainly something open to discussion. The corporate media for the time being is giving him a pass. If he gets our party's nomination, his past drug use will not only be discussed, but investigated as well.

John Kerry's heroic Vietnam war record was turned by the corporate media against him, while it continued to hide AWOL Bush's cowardly behavior. And Al Gore's words were twisted by the press in such a way to make his genuine accomplishment look foolish.

Do you really think Obama is going to be given a pass on his past drug use?

Adolescent drug experimentation often does have harmful side effects and interfere with the maturation process at a crucial time in one's development. While Senator Obama may not have suffered such impairment, last night's behavior certainly gives reason for concern. The past eight years under an impaired president have been eight years too many.

But even, as I hope, Senator Obama survived his youthful indiscretions relatively unscathed, he is still not out of the woods. When the corporate media turns on him, which it will, no quarter will be given. He has given them a club and don't kid yourself they won't use it.
