9. Also down ticket races
Donations will be divided and funneled to these two candidates as time goes own, in lieu of (or to the detriment) of the DSCC . We NEED to get focused on ONE message, a unified message, and a unified candidate that other down ticket candidates can use throughout the summer to draw upon and use. Also, it gives McCain far too much time to woo independent s( who may be distracted/disengaed from a long delegate fight). Finally, I see little reason to believe that we will "play this right" just based upon what's been said in the last week alone.

If we HAVE to have a "dream ticket" it'sbetter to get it soon after voting then to drag this thing onto the convention. IMO We cannot underestimate the effects that statements form both sides will have on identity politics , and those NEED time to heal, and simply reorganizing the order of the ticket, in and of itself may not get it done, especially if we do it with relatively less time left. Also on June 3rd, the primary season would be over so that impetus to register would be gone. So in my view there are fewer risks and possibly as much to gain in my view to end this one way or another after voting and THEN work on registration rather than having registration drives without the primary process to power them but WITH the increased potential of creating further acrimony. If obama get's the "magic number" should be the nominee period, because if we lose as a result of a convention fight (which may very well be seen as due to a breakdown in party leadership and unity), I think we may also lose a generation of voters along with it , we'll see but personally I don't want to risk it. Also since 1960,no major party has won after a convention fight (and in 1960 it was DAMN close, and we also had a candidate by the name of JFK). There could be other factors, that contribute to this but personally if I see 5 people enter a room and only one person walks out, barely I may not be likely to risk my life to go into it,even if more 'riches' were promised inside.
