37. I am a middle-aged woman

and the mother of a young daughter. Hillary doesn't speak for me. Usually I speak for myself. I support Obama's candidacy.

I am sorry, but I reread the letter and am going to add to my comments. Since I am a woman, I assume I am allowed to respond to a post that claims to speak for all women. I think in ways that this letter perpetuates the victim mentality with which women are often stereotyped. While I think it is great for women to have pride in voting for a woman candidate whom they believe in, I think the sort of "we need a hero" or we are not going to be heard if HRC is not electedd or be able to act in our own best interest as individuals or as women does nothing for the cause of women. I don't need someone to rescue me, and I have never felt like a victim in my life. I also think the assumption that a woman, solely because she is a woman, will act in the best interests of all women or has more empathy for women, is just false.

I think it is fine that this letter will run in some papers, but be prepared for some critical feedback from women who do not believe that HRC speaks for them.
