I used to think of liberals as kinda centrist - the capitalist status quo with a few more regulations and slightly higher taxes and I considered the progressives to be to the left of that, leaning towards socialism. Imagine my surprise when I found out the Wisconsin school progressives were Republicans.

I think of Obama as mostly centrist too, certainly not the anti-poverty corporate fighting rhetoric that Edwards used. I'm not sure what Obama's campaign proposals are other than health care without a mandate which seems like a small and viable step in the right direction. Mainly I expect him to be better because he won't stir up the anti-Clinton monsters and hopefully won't be so quick to adopt Republican talking points as the Clinton/DLC has been.
