March 16: Senator Kennedy announced his candidacy.
March 31: Following the New Hampshire primaries and Kennedy's entry into the election, the President Johnson startled the nation by announcing he would not seek re-election.
April 4, : Kennedy gave an impromptu speech in Indianapolis's inner city, announcing that MLK had been shot, in which Kennedy called for a reconciliation between the races.
Riots broke out in 60 cities in the wake of King's death, but not in Indianapolis, a fact many attribute to the effect of this speech.

There were only 13 primaries. And New Hampshire was March 12th. In 2008 NH was on January 8th. BIll CLinton had the Nomination wrapped on March 20th, not in June. What else does Hillary misremember ?
