US firm buys majority stake in AyalaPort, renames data center

A Michigan-based outsourcing firm has taken over the management and majority ownership of data center AyalaPort Makati and has renamed it CNG Global Data Hub.

The CyberNet Group (CNG), an ICT and business process outsourcing services provider, announced early this week during a press conference that it has acquired a 60 percent controlling interest in the data center from Ayala Corp.

The Ayala Group was left with 30-percent minority share while the remaining 10 percent is owned by independent shareholder Internet Initiative Japan, according to Reynaldo Huergas, the new managing director of CNG Global Data Hub. Huergas, a former executive of Ayala-owned mobile phone operator Globe Telecom, replaced Mark Anthony Javier.
