8. Beck defeated TCU on the road last season, 31-17
That was the game I became a believer. TCU is a brutal team to match up against yet Beck put up big numbers against them two years in a row.

That win on the road in 2006 was easily one of the top 5 efforts by any QB all season. Beck threw for more than 300 yards, and 3 second half TD passes, against a ranked foe with an excellent defense. TCU owned the nation's longest winning streak at the time, 13.

I watched that game and Beck was poised and threaded the needle. TCU was incredibly frustrated because the receivers were covered yet Beck made the plays. If you look at the game summaries, Beck was quoted that the receivers were blanketed but he put the ball where it needed to be and his receivers consistently came down with them.

It's funny, Miami's draft ratings were all over the board. I saw an A+ and also an F. Many Ds. The low grades are idiotic. The Dolphins had multiple picks in the 2nd round and a high number of selections overall. There's no doubt the nose guard from Utah who they picked in round 4 has excellent athletic ability for the position. The people with the low grades are content to violate every typical rationale and overreact to passing on Brady Quinn. It's always standard that the lowest grades are reserved for teams that didn't have many picks. You're really stretching probability to insist a team with plenty of picks botched them all.

Dr. Z from Sports Illustrated was very high on Beck, saying he reminds him of Jeff Garcia but with a much better arm. He said he doesn't make predictions but had no idea how Beck lasted as long as he did in the draft.

I have much more faith in Randy Mueller than Saban and Spielman multiplied by 1000.
