3. It's really heating up
SEIU's goal is to unionize the entire south, which is traditionally a very union-weak region. And they're starting with Miami because it is the most logical location due to its northern influence, wide income disparity and huge immigration population.

If the janitors win the battle against the University of Miami, then it would make it easier to unionize other workers in Miami. And then it would easier to unionize the rest of the south.

I think it's history in the making. It's really impressive to see these students get so involved. It's beautiful to see the diversity and unity among the students who are risking expulsion and arrest to support janitors who are mostly immigrants.

The union has been really aggressive and ruthless in their tactics. It's almost as if they're taking a page from the republicans, which is something I've always said democrats need to do.

After all, you can't go into a boxing ring unarmed when you know your opponent is going to be armed to the teeth.

Last week, Ed Asner showed up to lend his support to the janitors, who have been camped out across the campus for two weeks on a hunger strike.

Tomorrow, John Edwards is supposed to show up.
