I finally got power

Katrina really cramped my lifestyle, but we are so fortunate down here considering what happened in Louisiana and Mississippi.

We experienced a category one hurricane, which means winds were only 80 mph -- not the 145 mph that tore into the gulf coast, but powerful enough to knock down trees, traffic lights and powerlines all over the city. It got pretty chaotic down here.

I finally got my power restored this evening, five nights after she roared through here, but six percent of homes still do not have power not to mention countless traffic lights. At 90 degrees with high humidity, it's been brutal.

So far, eleven people have died in South Florida as a result of Katrina.

My heart goes out to those people in Louisiana and Mississippi. It's going to take them years to fully recover. I was here during Andrew in 1992 and that is something I don't wish upon anybody.

I will start putting the photo contest together right now so it will be up by Wednesday morning.
