10. I like the third one
on the first set though it could be sharper and I like this one and the way the needle is in the first roll, plus the color is so much better. :) I love your idea but feel there is something missing. So a few suggestions to try if you are up to it.

Could you find a white or off white material to place everything on and use lighting to separate the props from the back ground? A small fold or rough edge might be good too. The black and white contrast does bring out the thread but with the theme being white it might be worth trying.
Could you lay the front thread on its side on front of the other two? Also pull the thread through a bit further too. You might have to try different arrangements. The spool on its side is more dynamic.

Hope you don't mind the added musing on placement etc. but you have so much you can do with your great idea it is hard not to throw stuff out there. At least for me. Oh and play with different f-stops, that can be fun in itself.

If you look here http://pixelphoto.smugmug.com/Flowers/Flowers/1497531_i2aw6#96355896_x4BUb numbers 3 and 8 would of never worked as well on a black or dark background while on 11 black made it better. YMMV

Now to walk the dogs that have patiently howled while waiting for me.
