I'm not arguing that it is sane to use them in Iran, or anywhere else. But I don't see where anyone is proposing to use 30 of them on the US west coast either.

Plankton take up radionuclides, but you have to look at the benefits. The greatest threat to plankton right now is UV exposure - they have a harder time with that than with ionizing radiation. So, hey, with enough of a nuclear winter going, they'll be safe from the UV increase due to ozone depletion.

This guy has 30 nukes blowing up the US west coast... uh, I don't think the "holy shit" moment in that is "What about the plankton?"
