Remember that Carter was elected by evangelicals.

It's only since the abortion bandwagon took hold that evangelicals have supported those on the R side. (Roe was 78, Carter elected in 76) Roe probably took Carter down as much as anything else did.

Although Carter got screwed with the Iranian hostage situation which, between that and "stagflation", is credited with taking him down.

The truth is Carter took the helm of an economy that had been screwed by Nixon's wage and price freeze, and doublecrossed by GHW Bush on the Iranian hostages.

But back to the evangelical question, not all evangelicals are wealthy (most aren't)
and while, I'm sure there won't be an evangelical wave voting this time for democrats, there will be some that do.

and the rest of the country is against the RW I think. (look at the polls)
