And the wealthy right-wing elite has moved so far from that ideal. There is nothing wrong with success or wealth. There is something wrong with measuring the value of a person, determining that person's right to dignity, healthcare, respect, protection of his or her property, education, opportunity and human rights by the person's wealth. And that is what is happening here.

No one should have to be able to afford to go go a really good private school, be able to pay the exorbitant doctors' charges, or be able to hire a private security firm to guard his or her house in this country. But it is getting so that you can't compete for university places, stay healthy or safe unless you can pay the piper. That isn't just fascism. That is the beginning stages of feudalism. Pretty soon we will have to pay homage to rich protectors to even survive in this country. That is where the service economy leads. In the end, a very few aristocrats own the land, dole out the medical care, and protect the meager possessions of the poor who repay the "protection" in services. That is where we are headed.
