and used them religiously until they basically vanished. but yes, as long as they print bills as well, people will continue to ignore the coins due to simple inertia and the iconography of the Dollar bill.

the presidents is an interesting idea (and of course, when the bill was passed, they stopped at nixon because we still don't want to put living people on coins, I am sure it will be amended to include Ford, and if Carter has died by the time it is his turn, then Carter as well, although i still like the 25 year rule.) they should reserve the right to mint more coins as demanded, to replace paper as well.
