I'll be god-damned if someone thinks that because my mom is gay they can take anything away from her partner. My sister would allow it, but thankfully, I'm the oldest.
But it's so disturbing that there are these sorts of people out there. I remember when I was about 10 or 11, a neighborhood girl called my mother a dyke and said we were all going to hell because of her 'sins'. I beat the crap out of her--not the way one should handle things, but I was a kid. I didn't know what dyke meant, but I knew it was a very unkind term. Only years later, when I figured out the meaning, did I have real satisfaction knowing that girl was scared to even look at my mom weird.
I remember the Gwen Araujo case. It made the news and newspapers in California for a while.
