10. Unfortunately, a private campaign financing system ensures rich people are taxed progressively lower

The Supreme Court said the right to donate money to political campaigns is protected by the 1st Amendment. As a result, this means rich individuals are "more equal" than everybody else through sheer buying power.

I can donate 20 dollars to a candidate who wants to fight for the poor.

Mr. CEO can donate 2300 dollars (indexed to inflation) to the opposing candidate. In addition, he can donate another 1,000,000 dollars to a "citizens' group" that airs attack ads attacking my candidate. The stipulation is that this citizens' group can't name the person they wish to support or wish to win the election.

Me vs. Mr. CEO. Who is coming to a gun fight with a pair of brass knuckles here?
