27. I'm just going to throw this out there
and don't know if it's affecting your feelings or not, not saying it is or not, etc...

It's pretty common, subconsciously or not, to define women by their husbands. He's obviously a man of real power and she can seem literally small beside him. She'd sort of seem larger herself either alone or beside an unknown. The contrast with him, and her relationship with him, can automatically cast her in a different role and a different light than if she were alone.

(Notice they didn't have him behind her last night as she spoke. Did she seem different in that speech?)
