108. I've always said that
nothing will change until the media consolidation is stopped. I think any single group or individual should only be allowed to own ONE media source ANYWHERE. None of this media monopoly crap. ONE ONLY - in your local market ONLY. If you own a TV station and want to own a radio station, you have to sell your TV station first (and not to a subsidiary of your company or to your offspring, etc).

The only TV I watch is the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.
I only listen to the radio in my car (and only cause my tape deck died) and then I flip from station to station unless there is a song I like on (I do occasionally put on progressive talk radio but I really can't stomach talk radio in general so its pretty hard).
I am ashamed to admit that I subscribe to the local right wing rag but it is an addition I can't seem to break.

I can't understand why the George Soros' of this world aren't trying to buy up media outlets (or are they trying and not being allowed to). I wish Warren Buffet had used his money to take over some media outlets rather than give it to Gates. I still wouldn't like the way the media is owned but at least we would hear the other side occasionally. If I had that kind of money, I would try to buy up radio and TV stations and newspapers and try to put them into some sort of trust for the people of the community where they're located. If possible, try to tie them up in airtight legal ways to keep the Rupert Murdock's blood stained demonic hands off of them.

Ah, if only I ran the world :) Universal health care, publicly funded elections with a paper trail, no corporate "personhood," local ownership of media, strong environmental laws, etc. I'd probably be assassinated within of month of taking over the government :)
