I really am quite undereducated in the various forms of government that folks have had available. One person I chatted with was trying to confuse me with socialism...at first he called me a socialist but then when he learned that I felt Viet Nam was doing well these days he called me a communist! (This guy is old enough to have been affected directly by McCarthyism.) He was VERY ANGRY when he called me a communist and we ended our debate with neither side really having listened to each other. He is my neighbor and we have not spoken to each other since. I will reach out to him eventually, after-all he IS an American and his passion comes from wanting what is best for America! How can I really be mad at him for that? (As tempting as it sounds, I will pass on a friends notion of putting up pictures of Ho Chi Minh or Mao Tse Tung in my windows where he would see them)
