...analyzing the ease with which America veered toward fascism during the Bush presidency. If nothing else it's an object lesson in how fragile even the most cherished freedoms can be. All it takes is a little fear, and an utterly unscrupulous ruling class-- and that includes the "loyal opposition"-- to dash centuries of proud independence to bits and grind them under the heels of the military industrial complex. It's going to take a long time for Americans to come to grips with what we've allowed ourselves to become in so short a time.
