18. Excellent. Good work. But...
...no Bush is running for office.

Can anyone provide clear connections between the Nazis and the GOP?

I'm not being sarcastic this time. I seriously think it's an important question to ask, since no Bush is running for office and the GOP are trying to run from their current policies and fundamental beliefs. (See the GOP reaction to their recent losses in Illinois, Louisiana and Mississippi)

It is in the best interests of the GOP to distance themselves from the Bushes (at least on TV) and other clear embodiments of failure, such as Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Tom DeLay, etc.

They are currently trying to "rebrand" themselves by:
1. calling all offenses by republicans as "isolated incidents"
2. calling all "isolated incidents" in the past
3. pushing "libertarianism" as the "new conservatism"
4. proclaiming the "new conservatism" is vastly different from any of those "isolated incidents" (since they're in the past)
5. hoping no one will remember and link their new incarnation to their past crimes

Not to dismiss the real reporting done for this story, but without a clear connection between the Nazis and the GOP party as a whole, we're just going to get the same fascism in a prettier package.
