Let's go back to the old smoke-filled room approach. Or better yet, a NEW smoke-filled room approach.

We put all the Democratic delegates into a room. We issue $15 cigars.

On our first ballot we nominate Harold Stassen. He gets rejected because he's dead.

On our second ballot we nominate Mike Easley. He turns it down because he doesn't want it.

We use the third ballot to let everyone vote for the person they came to Denver to vote for in the first place.

At the end of it all, we've got a candidate who will hand the GOP its collective ass...AND each delegate gets a free $15 cigar. Everyone wins.
