Everyone gets to have a prize just for trying.

I don't want an (at best) earnest but woefully ineffective guy as governor of my state. And, yes, he'll have a huge machine behind him; a huge machine backing up an inept candidate who has no business being governor of any state is exactly what we don't need. Hell, even Palin was a mayor beforehand--McAuliffe's the consummate party apparatchik. He loses elections so he's of no use behind the scenes to the party, but they have to reward his years of dutiful party loyalty with a governorship. I just don't want it to be my newly-blue state that will be exposed to his incompetence.
