32. We didn't "hand" them the system
A lot of this stuff was innovated by WallyWorld, from their real estate polcies to their predatory treatment of suppliers to some of the single most hateful labor policies in the U.S.

At one point, Wal-Mart even got caught purchasing life insurance on its own employees, w/o their knowledge and keeping track of them to cash in after their death (w/o the family's knowledge). Wal-Mart recognized that it could write off the cost of the policy on the front end and not be taxed on the proceeds on the back. Legal? Maybe. Sleazy? Certainly.
