104. I understand. That's exactly why I posted it.
I lost my Bo (LaMist Bojangles) nearly 20 years ago. I knew it would be bad but I had no idea I'd go for 2-3 months before I'd pass an entire day without crying. It hit me hard. He was as true and companionable and loyal and trusting as anyone could ask. Bright, playful, supportive ... my very best 'friend' ever.

It was a few years later that I heard someone say that about being the person their dog sees. It was like a ton of bricks. I'd never heard ANYTHING so apt ... so hopeful, such a perfect aspiration. Anyone who's had that special dog knows it.

Bristol's expression reflects exactly that. You understand. It's funny how we're alerted to our capacity for unconditional love ... and we owe a deep debt of gratitude to those furry friends who serve us that way.
