I mean, when Bush was in office I called him unflattering names in conversation here, among like-minded people, and we all criticized his performance relentlessly. Still, when writing to the White House, or to our state reps, I think most of us recognized that calling them names and threatening them were the surest ways to have our concerns dismissed out of hand as coming from a lunatic fringe not worth acknowledging, let alone paying any attention to. That so many right wingers apparently do not understand-- or just dismiss-- such simple precepts of human dynamics is pretty scary, IMO. The person (or people) who wrote those vile letters to Leland Yee are either en route to becoming another Tim McVeigh or they will just fester and boil their way through miserable lives as self-proclaimed victims.
