seriously, there's no way my parents ever would have met were it not for hitler. my father was born and raised in america; my mother was smuggled out of vienna as a baby. no way my grandparents would have left vienna if the ss hadn't come to clear their building of jews (good thing they were out shopping at the time; still, the landlord evicted them the minute they returned.)

so i owe my life to hitler. but that hardly means i think the holocaust was a good thing, or would thank him in any way for what he did. "god has a plan" is at best a cop-out, at worst a rationalization for anything that happens.


if god really does have a plan, it's for all of us to try our best to do good on this earth. it's not for us to compound harm on harm by forcing rape victims to bear their rapists' progeny. you know, maybe god's plan involves letting women and not the government deciding for themselves.
