I remember how it came over me in a day, how we were on our own. When was that? Oh, yeah, I remember now.

1968 DEMOCRATIC Convention in Chicago.

I keep hearing, "America, where are you now? Don't you care about your sons and daughters?" all day long it's been driving me batty. But we're not the sons and daughters anymore, are we? We're the adults, and the world is looking just the same, as OP said, all over again.
