.. on how you define stupid. By some definitions, he is stupid. I think he believed the Iraq war would go well and he'd be a hero. By that definition he is stupid, because intelligent people knew that was very unlikely.

He still clearly believes in his supply-side nonsense, which is a form of delusion not exactly the same as stupidity, although just as pernicious.

I think he has an ego the size of Mt Rushmore and that his current disfavor is very difficult for him to handle. I don't think he thought it would turn out this way, and that is another form of stupid.
