6. The Military is not designed to clean up oil spills

It is designed to kill people. I find it odd people want the Military to rush in. They don't have the equipment for an oil spill.

Unless they are advocating siezing BP's assets and expect resistance, I see not much use the Military has other than they have large boats to tug things.
