30. Like several other Southern states, Arkansas used to be Democratic. She was first elected to the
House in 1992 (think Bill Clinton). She ran for Dale Bumpers seat against the brother of John Boozman and won because she'd been pretty much 'middle-of-the-road'. Until the GW Bush regimen, most of Arkansas was still adjusting to the 'southern strategy' and would vote for whomever if they didn't appear too much out of the mainstream. After Bush and now the Tea Party, it will never be that way again.
