29. Secession is an unworkable and destructive idea. It may sound "cute"
when one hears it because from the outside one could say, "they deserve it".

In the first place, the population demographics in the South does not consist of a homogeneous group
of White racists,all in the stereotypical mode that outsides might imagine. The average Southern state is divided about 50-50 in their racial and cultural views. How could that type of mix be allowed to secede? What would the other 50 to 65% do, move to a state that didn't secede. That would be partitioning and I don't think anyone would suggest that.

(My guess is that the poster was joking when they offered the suggestion.)
