U.S. Forces Find 13 More Bodies in Mosul
BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. forces found 13 more bodies in and around the northern city of Mosul, the military said Friday, bringing to 35 the number of corpses discovered in the past week in the area shaken by an insurgent uprising.

In Fallujah, insurgents ambushed U.S. troops as they entered a home during house-to-house searches in the former rebel bastion, killing two Marines and wounding three others, the U.S. military said Friday.

Lt. Gen. John F. Sattler, commanding general of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, said the Marines responded with gunfire, killing three rebels hiding inside.

U.S. troops have continued clearing operations in Fallujah, which came under a massive week-long U.S.-led assault that began Nov. 8. Sattler said about 50 percent of the houses in the city have already been cleared.

1. 5000 Iraqi "Police" refuse to put life on line for ex-CIA Agent run Gov
Seems they deserted their post Mosul - but the US Media refuses to report on this.

Any wonder why the elections are a must - with or without the Sunni.

But there will be "lists" of candidates for each group - one wonders just how many such lists will be on offer - and who will be represented.

2. from the Guardian 3200 of city's 4000 deserted or joined insurgents
Mosul, Iraq's third largest city, has been simmering for the past fortnight, since nine police stations were captured by insurgents.

Up to 3,200 of the city's 4,000 police officers either deserted or joined the insurgents during the attacks.

Security is now in the hands of a small unit of US soldiers, aided by Kurdish units of the Iraqi national guard, which carried out a number of limited operations in insurgent areas yesterday, and an elite police commando unit.

Thousands of peshmerga have poured into the city, partly to protect party offices, but also to protect the Kurdish minority, and the Christian, Turkoman and Yezidi communities.

3. Thank God for the Guardian - 5000 was the number used by a GOP friend
so I assumed it to be correct - the GOP never exaggerates!
