Wired: E-Voting Audit Ready for Public (BBV)
http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,60486,00.html

A security audit ordered by Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich on Diebold Election Systems' touch-screen voting machines is complete, and a version of it is ready for public consumption.

A redacted version of the report, with information useful to malicious crackers taken out, will be available on the state's website Friday or early next week.

Note the report contains useful information to crackers in the first place.

The SAIC audit is "comprehensive, lengthy and there are a lot of recommendations in it," according to Pettit. He declined to elaborate on the recommendations but acknowledged that state officials and SAIC considered the specific issues raised by the Johns Hopkins researchers.

2. There should be no information in the report useful to crackers!
To put a bolder point on your excerpt. Diebold should have designed a system with no weak points for hackers to get in. Of course you folks know that.

To quote John Stewart of TDS: "What do you people think we are...retarded?"

3. Yeah, I Liked That Part, Too
I have a gaming buddy who works at one of SAIC's (unrelated) divisions and even he expected a whitewash.

4. I'm sure it will be.
Wonder if the report will call for a verifiable paper trail (I doubt it.).

5. Well, Diebold will have a copy of the report...
which means that given their security, we should be reading it on the Net within a few weeks.
