China Rejects U.S. Criticism of Rights Record
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=politicsNews&storyID=7769323

BEIJING (Reuters) - China rejected U.S. criticism of its human rights record on Tuesday, saying Washington should stop interfering in China's internal affairs and think about putting its own house in order.

The State Department accused China in its annual human rights report on Monday of using the global war against terrorism to crack down on peaceful opponents of its rule in Muslim Xinjiang and of committing persistent rights abuses in 2004.

"We express strong dissatisfaction and at the same time resolute opposition to (the United States) finding fault with China for no reason at all," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a news conference.

Liu urged the United States to "stop using human rights to interfere in China's internal affairs ... and look at problems of human rights abuses existing domestically and look at violating the human rights of other countries internationally."

He did not elaborate but was apparently referring to the abuse of prisoners in Iraq.

1. We officially torture people now.
We have no longer have a legitimate basis for objecting to what they're doing.

2. Washington should put it's own house in order, no shit!
.
.
.

And pissing off the largest nation in the world, with a rapidly growing economy and integration into the world market . .

NOT a good idea Junior! (pssst - dey got nukes - LOTS of nukes)

Already China is wooing Canada for the products that the USA wants to feck around with

AND WE'RE GONNA SELL IT TO THEM

Heck with piddling around with childish war-hawks who think that what we have is only saleable to the US - not so . . .

There is a market in China for every stick of Canadian lumber, every drop of oil, and yes - even our "tainted" beef.

So keep it up down there,

and the US will find itself scrambling to buy products they once turned their nose up at from their Northern Neighbours

China is getting unusually vocal,

Wake up USA - ur pissing off the whole world!!

3. China treats its citizens badly, but they have a point about US policies
under the Bush administration.

Anyone else live in an area with a lot of middle easterners? I live in metro Detroit, and 3 of my favorite ethnic restaurants have just vanished in the last few months. I don't know why or what happened, but all were owned by muslims from other countries. One is al-
Raushdee in Royal Oak (on Washington), one is the Taj Mahal in Hamtrammk, and the third is Kabob Villages in Dearborn (unless it has repopened recently). The one in Dearborn didn't concern me, because there was construction on Michigan AVE and it was impossible for months to get in and out of their parking lot. The other two, I wanted to eat at them for lunch, went there and they were closed. They were places I went to at least every month or so, and all three had been in existence for over 10 years.

I'm just wondering if the businesses went bankrupt or the owners were deported or something.

4. How much do we owe China now?
For 4 years we have been borrowing from them ...with interest, we must owe them a lot..Methinks the US needs to tread carefully when it comes to China, who basically OWN us now, thanks to Bushs deficits and spending freeforall.

5. I enjor reading China's paper on US human rights situation.
They point to the real injustices against working people and people of color. It's much more germane than the US rantings.

7. Haha... China criticizing ANYONE on human rights - it's even funnier than
John Ashcroft singing about freedom and civil liberties.
