http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi.html

On the BBC ticker at top of page. CNN reported cars on fire outside of the coalition headquarters about 15 minutes ago but did not know why yet. Waiting for a link with some details.

1. This is not good, to put it mildly
Could this be related to the failed car bomb plot NPR reported this morning?

According to their story, someone attempted to bomb a police station that was full of US troops, but failed when the car exploded some distance from the target.

2. Is this it?
In a separate incident Monday, an apparent grenade attack destroyed a car outside the Baghdad headquarters of the U.S.-led administration in Iraq, witnesses said. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

3. Hmmmm...
I suppose this was a "non-hostile" car bombimg with 7 wounded.

"Wounded", of course to the point of instant death, but they still got wounded, didn't they????

11. Today is the anniversary of the end of British rule of Iraq.
Later this week are two more holidays marking ascendancy to power of Saddam and the Baath party.

13. They cite this as the 32 death since "major combat" was said to be
concluded. I believe I read over the weekend - in main stream sources - a much higher number. If true, it is sad that what is available to the press is downplayed, thus somehow not recognizing some who have given their lives in the "post major combat" period.

Does anyone have a link to a reputable source that has accurate numbers of fatalities from this period?

14. "...It was unclear what had caused the explosion..."...
...Centcom says that the explosion was caused by either:
a. swamp gas
b. an optical illusion augmented by the reflection of the planet Jupiter
c. a weather balloon
