30 Americans Among Those Injured By Truck Blast (Contractors)
http://www.kxan.com/Global/story.asp?S=3053374&nav=0s3dXHYp

Baghdad, Iraq -- U.S. officials say at least 30 American contractors are among those injured when suicide bombers blew up a garbage truck packed with explosives near a Baghdad hotel.

The U.S. Embassy says the Americans are among 40 people hurt in the blast, which killed at least three people. Officials say no Americans were killed.

Police say the truck entered a compound that includes the hotel after insurgents wearing police uniforms fatally shot a guard at the gate to the complex.

The hotel is used by Western contractors.

1. Not contractors
They, unlike the troops are there by choice. They are there to profit off of war, and while it's always unfortunate when someone is killed over there, they made the choice to be there and accept the possible consequences of their actions.

The above comments are not applicable to civilian workers who are in Iraq on a strictly humanitarian basis.

Spokane prison contractor survives Baghdad blast

A corrections team headed by the former director of the Geiger Corrections Center in Spokane survived a suicide bombing early today at Baghdad’s Al-Sadir Hotel in which two Iraqi police officers were killed and 40 people were injured.

Spokane’s Mike Pannek, who is now in charge of American contractors administering Iraqi prisons and training Iraqi corrections personnel, called The Spokesman-Review early Wednesday morning after a suicide bomber detonated a garbage truck packed with explosives outside the hotel.

“All of my corrections people are OK,” Pannek said, adding that a few members of the team, including Pannek, suffered “minor cuts and scrapes from flying glass.”

The U.S. Embassy said 40 people, including 30 American contractors, were injured in the explosion that left a huge crater in the road and blew out windows in the area, according to a Reuters news service report. The nearby Agriculture Ministry sustained extensive damage.

4. No Americans have a right to be in Iraq.
I'm sorry, even "humanitarian" workers are a part of the occupation. Indeed, they are infiltrated by the government forces exactly to exploit them as a cover.

5. Military: Blast injured 30 US workers (Baghdad)
Didn't they originally say these were not Americans?

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/EE799A92-173E-4206-A0B2-8F5F4A17C884.htm

<snip>

US military authorities have revealed 30 American contractors were wounded in the bomb blast in Baghdad earlier on Wednesday.

A garbage truck loaded with explosives blew up next to a Baghdad hotel housing foreigners, killing four people. Thirty US contractors were among 40 wounded, the US military said.

Many of the wounded were immediately transported to Baghdad hospitals.

Attackers wearing police uniforms first fatally shot a guard at a gate to the Agriculture Ministry, next to the Al-Sadir hotel. That allowed the garbage truck to enter the parking lot between the two buildings.

Other guards fired assault rifles and machine guns in an effort to disable the garbage truck, police said. The truck stopped just inside the gate and then exploded.
