Former Lebanese Prime Minister General Michel Aoun (mi-shel' ah-oon') says he's coming back from exile.
Speaking at a Paris news conference today, he says he wants to foster national reconciliation as Lebanon waits for parliamentary elections.

Election dates have not yet been set, but the current parliament's mandate expires May 31st.

Aoun says his return and that of his former ministers, were "unanimously called for by all political sides in Lebanon."

Aoun is also calling on Lebanon's pro-Syrian president to put together a government "that genuinely represents the will of his people."

shit. shit. shit.

1. Link don't work.
Watching Aoun "foster national reconciliation" should be "interesting".

2. The link is weird. So I put up a new one.

I can reload the link or past it into a browser and load it, but I can't put the link into the story. So I put up a wire service story instead.

I wonder if it won't permit deep linking?

3. Sometimes the browser and server software disagree

about "special" characters. Happens to me once in a while too.
Sometimes the site software doesn't work as expected, you get
"exactly" the right URL and it still won't go where it went before.

4. A bad rumor...
someone (from lebanon) has emailed me and told me that Walid Jumblaat is alleging he will *deal with* the shiite problem in a decisive way.

What that means, I don't know. It doesn't sound friendly.
