Record U.S. Pump Prices Won't Curb Driving-AAA

Record U.S. Pump Prices Won't Curb Driving - AAA

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Record pump prices won't cool America's love affair with the open road, although drivers are starting to fuel their passion with smaller, more efficient vehicles, the AAA auto group said on Wednesday.

"Our historical experience tells us Americans will not give up their travel plans due to high prices of fuel," said Geoff Sundstrom, spokesman for the group. "But we think we're already starting to see consumer backlash against high fuel prices in car sales, and that trend may continue."

Average U.S. regular gasoline prices have spiked more than 15 cents in one month to $2.05 a gallon, matching last spring's record, and are expected to keep climbing in the coming days due to soaring costs for crude, AAA said.

2. For me, it adds up to about $2 more per tank
than what I was paying a couple weeks ago. It's not that bad. Compare it to a few years ago. It's about $5 more per tank. That's really still not enough to make me seriously chnage my driving habits. I use about a tank a week.

4. The Imperial expenses have to be paid
The problem w/ crowd control is
that they have so dumbed down the
simple ideas that they hold, that their ideas are
little more than myth.

The crowd understands that the Empire had
to go into Iraq for oil. The crowd will not understand
$2.50/gal gas on Memorial Day.

The suits will start another war before they
challenge the myth of the crowd.

The poor are being priced out of the market as we
speak. See Argentina/Shell.
