Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and Spain Presidents to Meet in Caracas
<clips>

Brasilia, Mar 28 (Prensa Latina) The President of Brazil, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva; Colombia, Alvaro Uribe; Venezuela, Hugo Chavez and Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, will meet in Caracas to foster cooperation in all spheres, especially fighting drug trafficking and organized crime, according to the Brazilian Foreign Ministry.

Among issues are analysis of regional and international subjects like UN reforms, fighting starvation and poverty, the South American Community of Nations and Ibero-American Summits. They will also discuss topics of regional security, trade, investments, tourism and cooperation.

According to a press release from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Brazil and Venezuela will review the 20 agreements signed in Caracas on February 14, aimed at creating a strategic alliance between both countries.

Since then, the ministry had planned on holding a three-way meeting to "strengthen links and examine cooperation alternatives with Colombia, in the context of fighting drug trafficking and transnational organized crime."

1. This is good.
I wish that South America could develop some sort of union, like the EU. I know it may be a pipe dream, but the only way that the people of South America can ever hope to get out from under the US and its murderous thumb is by banding together and acting as one - and not let the damned yankees play one off against the other. If Spain can help, then bravo Spain!

3. Excellent!
The influence of the US is waning in many spheres due to, at least in part, bush's megalomaniacal policies.

It is my hope that the US public will wake up sooner than later at the long-term damage that man is doing to the US but, I have to admit, that hope is waning.

4. This is terrible! Think what a devastating impact this could have on the
CIA drug trade! Just because we are bogged down in Iraq, these third world countries think that they can just start taking over their own hemisphere! How ungrateful. Don't they know that WE own the Americas?
Next thing you know they will want to control their own resources, and governments, and treaties. That is sooooooooo undemocratic.
:evilgrin:
