O'Hare expansion foes accuse Daley of 'pervasive fraud'

March 30, 2005

BY MARK J. KONKOL Transportation Reporter

A report commissioned by suburban leaders who want to block O'Hare Airport expansion alleges Mayor Daley personally pulled the strings on an airport contract and had his aviation department brass "cook the books" on the study that fueled the city's push for O'Hare expansion.

The most scathing allegation in the Aviation Integrity Project report -- which includes more than a decade of documents, interviews and newspaper clippings -- hinges on the word of an unnamed former top aviation department source.

The source says he was in the room when Mayor Daley said he personally contacted two women who were friends of his wife and arranged to give their minority-owned firm a piece of a lucrative book store contract at the airport.

Why isn't he in jail over Meigs?

2. Because... no one is questioning him? No one is running against him?
The problems with corrupt local politicians is that they get away with whatever they are doing. There are no strong candidates who are secure in their positions and who can offer an alternative platform taking on their opponents point by point and showing how they can be better.

Oh, forgot, we are talking about the mayor of Chicago, not the President of the United States..

3. Smoke and mirrors
nothing illegal ever has or ever will be tied to Daley.

He is just doing what is best for the city and the state, what kind of idiot builds an international airport 50 miles south of Chicago?

4. Mayor Daley is HATED in Chicago!!! Everyone wants him OUT OF OFFICE
Everyone is trying to think up a way to get him out of office. He has more scandals than the Bushies if that's possible. He completely unethical and is corrupt.

Waiting for the IMPEACHMENT WHILE THE SCANDALS KEEP UNFOLDING

5. That's probably why he won 79% of the vote in 2003
Because everyone hates him, and that's why he'll win a similar margin in 2007.

Get real.
