Board examine strike policy (Newark CA)
Teachers could face disciplinary action under proposed changes in Newark school district

By Linh Tat, STAFF WRITER

NEWARK — The head of the Newark teachers union is questioning the school board's plan to update a district policy about employees who strike, noting that it comes on the heels of a recent contract agreement and just one month before negotiations for next year's contract begin.

"I'm really concerned why it would come up right now ... seeing that we just settled a contract (in February) and, theoretically, we're all working together," union President Phyllis Grenier said.

Because she had not seen the proposed policy, Grenier would not comment further. <snip>
