Former Sonic Kemp arrested
Marijuana, cocaine are found in ex-star's truck in Shoreline

In his heyday more than a decade ago, Shawn Kemp was a rising young All-Star whose gravity-defying leaps propelled him into the hearts of countless Sonics fans as he helped lead the team to the 1996 NBA Finals.

His legacy is of unfulfilled promise. Fans might wonder what Kemp, now 35, could have become if not beset by high-profile paternity suits, drug problems and increasingly poor on-court performances.

Kemp's steady descent from once-lofty heights continued with an arrest early yesterday after marijuana and cocaine were found in his truck.

The arrest happened in the 16000 block of Aurora Avenue North in Shoreline about 1 a.m., the King County Sheriff's Office reported.

no less than 3 reporters got the byline...must have been an 'investigative' series, no doubt!!

One reporter to drive to the Cop Press Conference, one to take notes and one to type their names...good job, Pulitzers all 'round

3. He was arrested on Aurora Ave. at the Brown Bear car wash...

an establishment I can see from my living room window. I just moved here three months ago for it's right around the block from where I've been working the last thirteen years. From experience I can tell you that this is a high prostitution and drug area. To be sitting in your truck in this neighborhood while smoking a joint is 'asking for it'. IMHO, Kemp is either very stupid or, as word has come to me, been set up.

without the drugs- not much of a role model.
