Pennsylvania decertifies some voting machines from Calif. company

Pennsylvania decertifies some voting machines from Calif. company

By PETER JACKSON
Associated Press Writer

April 07, 2005

Pennsylvania officials Thursday barred three counties from using a touch-screen voting system that apparently contributed to an unusual number of uncounted votes in the November election.

Pennsylvania Secretary of State Pedro Cortes said officials do not believe the undercount would have changed the outcome of any races in Mercer, Beaver and Greene counties.

Still, he said, "there are enough problems with this system that in our estimation it's in the best interests of the voters" to stop using them immediately.

In Ohio, meanwhile, Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell wants all four members of a county board of election to resign after a review found problems - including some ballots being stored in a nonsecure warehouse before the November election.

4. It's a start. But, we need ALL of them Replaced
And an honest system in place.

Isn't it just sad that in America this could happen, and so obviously. Yet, Chimp & Co without blinking an eye speak of the abuse in other countries.

They really make me sick.

5. This is good. I live in Greene
County and I sure wondered why it went for bush* in the November elections. We use touch-screen machines.

7. A kick
And a link to a local story:

A touch-screen computer system for Greene County was purchased for $318,000 to replace the use of antiquated paper ballots. This system has been used by the county since 1998.

Cortes based his decision to decertify the machines on a study conducted by researchers at Grove City College that found the touch-screen devices failed to sense finger touches and did not register nor record votes. The screen also "froze" and stopped accepting touches.

8. OK, so what about Diebold?
Heaven forbid anyone should try to de-certify any of their machines. Also, what about that Uncle Tom piece of shit Blackwell? He's the biggest perpetuator of fraud in that state if not the country. At least as bad as Katherine Harris. But now it's a classic repuke tactic of blaming your underlings and making them resign. They're going to run this dirtbag for higher office for sure.
