Shattered corpse puts face to Iraq suicide bombers
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/SIM534073.htm

BAGHDAD, Iraq, April 15 (Reuters) - The torn corpse of a suicide bomber left on a street overnight in southern Iraq put a rare face to the anonymous attackers terrorising Iraq.

The remains of the man who blew up four police officers in a quiet market square on Thursday evening drew a crowd of curious onlookers on Friday, overseen by police toting AK-47 assault rifles.

The man staggered up to a group of officers acting as if he were retarded, then triggered a vest laden with explosives, Hussein al-Ta'i, mayor of the small town of Mahawil, told Reuters Television.

Suicide bombers -- men believed to be from across the Arab world -- are usually shredded when they pull detonators in attacks that have killed thousands.

So Iraqis only see body parts of victims and burning, mangled cars after the explosions.

1. more tidbits...
-Nobody knew why the corpse was left in public for so long.

-...had short dark hair and appeared to be in his 20s or early 30s

-many ordinary Iraqis are struggling to understand the concept of suicide bombings, which happened during the 2003 war but were unheard of during Saddam Hussein's rule.

-The man's name and nationality were unknown. He could have been one of the militants from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt or Yemen fighting for Jordanian militant Abu Musab al- Zarqawi, al Qaeda's leader in Iraq. Or he may have been one of the Iraqis who have embraced militant Islam since a U.S.-led invasion toppled Saddam.

2. And here we worry about how violence *on TV* affects children...
Imagine if your kids were seeing people, often people they know, ripped to shreds by gunfire or explosives on a regular basis.

The damage to the human psyche caused by war and occupation is hard to fathom.

6. Occupation is the ultimate form of terrorism
You wake up with it. You live with it throughout your day. You go to bed with it. I am sure one even dreams about it who happens to be experiencing it.

10. That was my reaction-
I can't imagine seeing a body ripped in half. It would haunt me forever. I did see a fatal head injury after a car wreck. I think I have pushed it far from my memory because I can't really remember as much about the image as I used to.

11. Yes, an entire country with PTSD...
and a truck-load of seething, white-hot rage for America.

In other words, a petri dish for breeding future terrorists.

Good thing the check we just mailed to the IRS is paying for all of this.

I love the smell of irony in the morning...

3. What an asshole

Too bad he had to take out innocent Iraqis instead of videotaping himself and his protest blowing up in a field somewhere.

4. I don't think they view police hired by the US puppet gov't as "innocent".

5. How about formerly unemployed?
Before they were converted to post-living?

8. "Before they were converted to post-living?" Not sure what you mean
Is that something similar to post-Mission accomplished?

7. I am sure they are viewed as collaborators
Amazing that some here seem incapable, or unwilling, to grasp that concept. We don't know the full story here. This mans family may have been murdered by US trained Iraqi police for all any of us know.

16. So you ARE saying that in certain cases you WOULD collaborate with...
...another country or countries to allow the overthrow of America. Is that correct? Before I respond any further I would like a clear answer to that one question so as I am not in any way accused of misconstruing your words.

So is your answer yes? Or is your answer no? Now go ahead and answer that one single question concisely without all of the flowery rhetoric and then I will continue.
