Troops find car bomb factory
April 18, 2005

IRAQI commandos combing an area on the outskirts of Baghdad where Shiite residents were allegedly taken hostage have found a car bomb-making factory.

One Iraqi official also said "execution chambers" had been uncovered in the region, where US-backed Iraqi forces mounted an operation after reports of Shiite residents being held by Sunni gunmen.

Mortar rounds and artillery shells were stocked in several outbuildings surrounded by palm groves in an abandoned farm, while two cars bombs stood ready for use, a reporter embedded with the military said.

Two rusty 250lb (110kg) bombs lay next to an orange and white taxi while an artillery shell, rigged with explosives and caked in cement, was hidden in a grey van.

Both vehicles were loaded with cartons of potato chips.

I guess this story gives new meaning to the idea, you can't have just one?

8. And the Iraqis didn't sign up for none of this shit either
They just woke up one day and found Shock And Awe falling down on top of them. I can't even imagine that happening here.

10. To be honest
Both my brother in law and cousin report home that almost all of the people there appreciate very much what they are doing. My BIL flies C130's in with supplies via Germany and my cousin works in one of the hospitals.

7. Execution chambers seems like pure propaganda
It seems to me that the resistance/insurgents (pick the name you prefer) have just shot people in the street or out in the desert. They seem pretty bold about the whole business. Execution chambers are what governments use.

9. Did they close down the rose petal factory?
Probably did seeing as how every Iraqi kinda got bored with throwing all those rose petals at the liberating army.
