Bush defends embattled Republican leader
 >>> :puke:

GALVESTON, United States (AFP) - US President George W. Bush rewarded a top Republican leader under pressure because of charges of ethical violations with a ride aboard Air Force One and words of praise.

Bush, here to push for the partial privatization of the Social Security retirement program, invited House Majority Leader Tom Delay aboard his presidential plane for the trip back to Washington after a weekend in Texas.

"I appreciate the leadership of Congressman Tom Delay, in working on important issues that matter to the country," said Bush, who credited the lawmaker with pushing energy and medical liability legislation through the House of Representatives.

The powerful Delay, who like Bush hails from Texas, faces a controversy over allegedly improper fundraising and questions about the financing of some of his overseas travel.

6. "Working on important issues that matter to the country"? Is that
what you call threatening the judiciary? Making your family rich by raking in $500,000 for the wife and kid? Traveling around the world, first-class?

9. Important Issues??
Yeah, I hear alot of talk about our $500 Billion a year national debt, and the $61 Billion a month trade deficit.

I'm hearing alot about the huge surges in healthcare cost.

The stagnent job market is really making headlines.

The quagmire in Iraq? Havent heard Bush mention this "Important issue" in months.

How about the financial crisis that we call Medicare?

Rising fuel cost?

Rising interest rates?

Falling dollar?

Inflation?

Yeah, they are really dealing with alot of the issue we Americans care about... not.

His handlers make very few stupid political decisions. What in the world could be the long-term advantage that I'm not grasping?

11. The Fundies
and all of their billion dollars are 100% behind DeLay. They are the ones who elected Bush and Bush will not abandon them. I wish Bush would leave my Methodist church and join one of the fundy religions so he would at least be honest about his allegiance.

They are both from Texas after all.

13. Bush needs Delay in the House...
Delay got the nickname "The Hammer" for a reason. Bush wants him right where he is so that he can corral all those "free thinking" Republicans when the time comes to vote on the Social Secruity disaster.

Remember the Medicare prescription drug benefit that was passed at 5:00am, after Delay kept the vote open for 3 hours while he went and bribed members of the house to vote his way?

Didnt Delay threaten a house member with not financing his son's campaign unless he voted with Bush? Thats why Bush wants Delay where he is... to stomp dissent.

15. More intentional distractions from the important stuff
Coming to the aid of the bastard creates more free news headlines and costs nothing. All the while the situation of everything else worsens daily.

14. Hopefully Never! Bush Is Acting Like He's Got Gravitas Or Something!
"Don't worry Tommy, I'm popular, I'll help pull you out of this hole! Once you're seen w/ a popular, wartime president like me, people will start to like you again!"

May they both drag eachother down like two drowning men grasping eachother for purchase.

20. "Embattled!" They use the word "embattled" and that's the tipoff.
DeLay is in political quicksand up to his throat. It's just his ugly head and bombastic mouth sticking out.

Check out at the craftiness of the language in the article, "... bush rewarded a top Republican leader under pressure because of charges of ethical violations with a ride aboard Air Force One and words of praise.

They're catching on ... Repubs screw up, bush rewards them. Pass the popcorn, please.
