Bush greeted by storm backlash
Return to ravaged area met by skepticism as major levee repaired and New Orleans starts pumping out water

As the Army Corps of Engineers Monday plugged one of the largest levee breaks that flooded New Orleans, President George W. Bush visited the Gulf Coast offering sympathy for Hurricane Katrina's refugees, to a sometimes cool reception.

As the man who represents, to many in the Gulf States, a government response that Bush himself called "not acceptable," the president faced a continuing backlash from survivors and officials along the flattened path of last week's hurricane.

Some kept their distance from the president at public appearances, saying he showed a lack of resolve during a fateful test of leadership.

...

"I need answers," said one hurricane victim, Mildred Brown, who had been at Bethany with her family since Tuesday. "I'm not interested in handshaking. I'm not interested in photo ops. This is going to take a lot of money."

1. I think it's time for Junior to have one of folksy town hall meetings with
some of the LA survivors. I'm sure they would have a nice greeting for him.

25. The Powers for Roberts goes for the throat type. Roberts represent
a show of Tenacity, passion, determination, ideological drive, etc
in the effort to dominate/control the SCOTUS.

The Perfect Storm arrived as a miricle.

Never one to lose ops, Rove and crew figured the Perfect answer, the Holy Grail, All In on using NOLA as the means to get Roberts not only on the court but as the CH J.

How? Use the Puppet to create distraction....

The Perfect Puppect had the Perfect ACT. Just be himself.........TOO EASY...

All Rove had to do was let George loose and everything would soon be fucked up....

They knew. They were willing to let NOLA become a distraction/reason for Roberts...clever these peeps. Cruel too....

Boom: Cindy off the front page.... A 2 fer..... Perfect.....

9. The article sounds bad for the chimp
It seems like the teflon has worn off:

"Louisiana's Democratic governor, Kathleen Blanco, stopped short of publicly venting her anger at the president. But her relations with Bush appeared frosty as they toured a Baton Rouge shelter for storm victims.

Blanco left bonhomie aside as she handed over the microphone at a public gathering. "I know I don't need to make any other introduction other than 'Mr. President,'" Blanco said tersely, handing over the mike."

21. Blanco's relation with "Bush appeared frosty "--te he he.

Louisiana's Democratic governor, Kathleen Blanco, stopped short of publicly venting her anger at the president. But her relations with Bush appeared frosty as they toured a Baton Rouge shelter for storm victims.

Blanco left bonhomie aside as she handed over the microphone at a public gathering. "I know I don't need to make any other introduction other than 'Mr. President,'" Blanco said tersely, handing over the mike.

In a separate speech to a group of local officials in Poplarville, Miss., Bush continued to use the forward-looking turns of phrase that marked other speeches last week. "This is one of these disasters that will test our soul and test our spirit, but we're going to show the world once again that not only can we survive, but we will be stronger and better for it," Bush said.......

36. NY Daily News: Bush gets chilly reception
Bush gets chilly reception
President Bush returned to the scene of Hurricane Katrina's fury yesterday and got a cold shoulder from Louisiana's governor and a cool reception from survivors.

...snip...

Hugging mothers and babies, he seemed to win over some shelter residents who rushed forward for autographs and photos.

Still, many others hung back and viewed the hoopla as a publicity stunt that will have no impact on their effort to rebuild their lives.

"I need answers," said Mildred Brown. "I'm not interested in handshaking. I'm not interested in photo ops."

Wayne Johnson, 40, who sought shelter at Bethany with 30 members of his extended family, said he shook the President's hand. But he was unable to shake the feeling that New Orleans had been forsaken by the feds at its darkest hour.

37. One other telling quote:
"If it's not right, we're going to fix it, and if it is right, we're going to keep doing it," he said at an emergency operations center in Louisiana's capital, Baton Rouge.

In other words, he had to parrot a canned political phrase fed to him by his speechwriters (which he used on his visit on Friday), rather that say anything from the heart.

41. If I was in that situation....
I'd smile real nice so he'd come over, then I'd say "Fuck you" and spit in his face.

After all the suffering these people have been through, nice clean prison jammies and a private cell might actually be a comfort, and it would be worth it to tell the SOB what I think of him, where no other person had been able to before now because of his handlers.

That man needs to realize that he has turned this country into a seething cauldron of hate. For HIM.
