US failure to count civilian deaths 'incredible' {Independent}
Human Rights Watch strongly condemned the refusal to count civilians killed by US troops in Baghdad.

1. They not only refuse to count,
they also refuse to investigate. It is a moral travesty and a violation of international laws and agreements. Bush and company are war criminals, plain and simple. It is disgusting to think that our government is in the business of killing civilians (particularly since they declared war is over) and do not care. We are being ruled and led by psychopaths and we have no choice but to complain and sit and watch it happen.

7. SURE YOU HAVE A CHOICE
Depends how far you want to go and what you are willing to risk.

8. Who cares anyway??
After all they are just ragheads</Sarcasm>

In my war they were called gooks and slopes.

A way to demonize and make the enemy into sub-humanoids.

Hitler and Goebbels used it on the Jews very effectively.

9. Dehumanizing the deaths, no need to count or investigate Iraqis
nor report them. It works for the masses.

2. Of course they're not going to count
If they counted, eventually someone would compare Iraqis killed by Saddam to Iraqis killed by the U.S.

3. A Count in the Boston Globe ...
... this morning claimed 94 Iraqis killed in Baghdad since May 1.

This figure seems low to me.

6. Seems like most of the trouble spots are outside Bagdad
Tikrit, Karbala, the surrounding areas.

4. Do coalition troops do body counts?
And what about the deaths and injuries outside of Baghdad-this is another outrage brought about by the BFEE and it's captive media. It challenges the perspective that things are going along so well.

5. Even the number of dead during the war is a model
which includes the estimate of 30% civilian noncombatant fatalities

10. Even worse, they stopped the Int'l Red Cross
From the start of major military operation, the ICRC was sending in staff to the hospitals in Iraq to count the injured and the dead. Up until March 23, 2003 the ICRC was posting this data on their website on a daily basis. After 03/23/03 they stopped posting any references to numbers of dead and injured. In other words, they stopped counting. I would assume that Bu$hCo pressured them to stop. So not only did the US refuse to count Iraqi casualties, they stopped the ICRC which was counting.

This is the link to the last time the ICRC reported dead and injured Iraqi civilians:

11. U.S. Troops Using Excessive Force? - CBS
With ambushes and roadside bombs a daily occurrence, U.S. troops in Iraq operate under rules designed for war.

A Human Rights Watch report claims that has created "an atmosphere of impunity in which many soldiers feel they can pull the trigger without coming under review".

The 82nd Airborne in Fallujah was singled out.
